Paul Merson has given his prediction for the upcoming clash between Manchester United vs Brighton.
The Red Devils are currently sitting in 11th place in the Premier League table following the results of the first four matches this season. The Seagulls, meanwhile, are 6th on the list with 9 points.
The two sides will be determined to have a successful clash when they face each other on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Merson believes the clubs will share points at Old Trafford during this showdown.
"This game could turn out to be a bit of a nightmare for Manchester United as Brighton are a hard team to play against," he said on Sportskeeda.
"Erik ten Hag has a few issues to address and it'll be interesting to see who starts up front at Old Trafford this weekend after Antony's recent suspension."
Merson mentioned reports about Facundo Pellistri potentially starting, but he believes Marcus Rashford will lead the attack alongside Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. The pundit prefers Garnacho as a substitute, thinking he's more effective against tired opponents.
Regarding Jadon Sancho's future, he noted recent speculation but disagreed that his Old Trafford career is ending. Merson emphasized that circumstances can change before the January transfer window, and with Manchester United lacking attacking options, Sancho could regain a place in the manager's plans through hard work and determination.
