Paul Merson has given his prediction for the upcoming clash between Chelsea and Liverpool.
The two sides have not experienced their best form last term. The Blues finished 12th in the league table, while the Reds were 5th on the list and will play in the Europa League during the 2023/24 campaign.
Chelsea will be heading to the first Premier League game of the season under the boss Mauricio Pochettino. The two teams will be looking to kick off the term on a positive note, while Merson predicts the teams will share points at Stamford Bridge.
"If Chelsea lose this game, nothing's changed from last season. Their biggest worry is their midfield - they're quite bare in that department. The players that they've got are inexperienced, and they can't afford another poor season," the pundit wrote on Sportskeeda.
"This game is crucial for both teams, and neither team will want to lose. If I was a Chelsea fan, I'd take a draw here. Both teams will have a go, and a draw would be a good result for both Chelsea and Liverpool," Merson added.
