Paul Merson has given his prediction for the upcoming clash between Manchester United and Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola's side currently hold the 2nd place in the domestic top tier after recording seven wins and two defeats. The Red Devils, meanwhile, are 8th on the list after the poor start of the campaign.
Both clubs will be looking to have a successful result in another historical Manchester derby on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Ahead of the game, Merson has shared his verdict, backing Manchester City to be the winners with a scoreline of 3 - 2.
"Manchester United's results have papered over their cracks in recent weeks, I give them absolutely no chance against Manchester City. The Cityzens will have the lion's share of possession and United will look to hit on the break, which is how I see the game being played out," the pundit said on Sportskeeda.
Merson emphasized that United's recent performances illustrate his point that they are "not good enough" to beat the Citizens. He cited the need for a 95th-minute penalty save by Andre Onana against Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League and Scott McTominay's late-game heroics against Brentford, where they were under pressure for most of the match.
"The Red Devils are going to get well-beaten soon, so they need to be careful against City to avoid a messy scoreline," he added.
