Onana out, Bayindir in: How will Manchester United line up during AFCON?

Manchester United are actively engaged in negotiations with Cameroon to postpone goalkeeper Andre Onana's withdrawal for the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to David Ornstein, the 27-year-old has committed to playing two matches within a 24-hour span. On January 14, he'll defend the goal for United against Spurs, followed by another match on January 15 against Guinea while on international duty with Cameroon.

However, If the shop-stopper plays against the Spurs and Cameroon fails to advance beyond the AFCON group stages, he could return without missing a United match. But, if Rigobert Song's squad progresses further, the former Inter star could miss up to four games.

Manager Erik ten Hag has alternative options, with summer signing Altay Bayindir ready to step in. The presence of a backup goalkeeper, who is yet to make his debut for the Manchester giants, raises questions about team dynamics and potential rotations.

Nevertheless, the upcoming FA Cup clash with Wigan offers an opportunity to integrate the Turk, but his exclusion against Ange Postecoglou's side next Sunday hints at possible unease from the manager.
