Tony Cascarino has criticized Mikel Arteta for allowing Bernd Leno to leave Arsenal. He strongly believes that Leno should be ahead of Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya in the pecking order.
Cascarino's comments came after Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Marco Silva's Fulham side over the weekend. During the game, Ramsdale had a tough moment when he conceded an early goal to Andreas Pereira after a mistake by Bukayo Saka.
This added more scrutiny to Ramsdale's position in the team, especially with David Raya joining the club this summer. However, Cascarino expressed his opinion that neither Ramsdale nor Raya should be ahead of Bernd Leno.
“There was always going to be pressure on Aaron Ramsdale this season, with David Raya joining from Brentford to provide competition for the gloves at Arsenal,” the pundit told The Times, via TBR Football.
“Raya no doubt fancies his chances after Ramsdale was caught off his line for Fulham’s opening goal — but the man I think should be Arsenal No 1 was in the other goal. Bernd Leno is calm, composed and commanding. I have no idea why Mikel Arteta let him go," he added.
