Newcastle United's injury concerns have grown as two new problems have surfaced during their 1-0 victory against Arsenal at St James' Park on Saturday.
Anthony Gordon's 64th-minute goal extended the Magpies' unbeaten streak in the Premier League to seven matches, bringing them within three points of the top four. However, the joy of defeating Arsenal was tempered by the unfortunate injuries sustained by Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy.
Burn had an awkward fall on his back in the first half, leading to his substitution by Tino Livramento at half-time. Meanwhile, Murphy's shoulder, which had previously dislocated against Borussia Dortmund less than two weeks ago, experienced a recurrence.
Given the inability of Newcastle's medical team to manage Murphy's shoulder injury, the 28-year-old is now scheduled for surgery and is expected to be sidelined for approximately three months.
These new injuries further add to the Magpies' existing lengthy injury list, which includes Alexander Isak, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, Harvey Barnes, Matt Targett, Javier Manquillo, and the suspended Sandro Tonali.
