The Newcastle manager Eddie Howe revealed that he is only looking for “elite” players to sign this season.
After being asked about West Ham star Declan Rice the 45-year-old head coach said that he is aiming to sign better players than he already has in the squad. Currently, the English captain is a key target for Arsenal with a deal worth over £80 million.
The rumors have been ongoing that Rice might make a move to a club playing in the Champions League. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has been linked to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, by increasing growth of interest ahead of the transfer window.
Per his contract, West Ham’s skilled captain has until the end of next season to spend at the London Stadium with a possibility of a further year that could be negotiated.
