Mikel Arteta speaks out on Arsenal's faint title hopes ahead of final two games

Mikel Arteta has spoken out on Arsenal's final two Premier League games. The Gunners prepare to face Nottingham Forest in an away league game on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Following their defeat against Brighton last week, the Gunners suffered a blow in the league title race as Manchester City are currently leading the league table with four points ahead and one game in hand.

City could become champions if they beat Chelsea or if the Gunners suffer defeat to Forest.

Nottingham are currently 16th in the table with 34 points, 2 points ahead of 18th-placed Leeds United. And if Forest win over the Gunners they will secure their spot in the league for next season.

Meanwhile, Leeds will be hoping to cut the gap with Forest and Everton, when they face West Ham in their league game on Sunday.

And ahead of the matchweek, Mikel Arteta's words about Gunner's final two games will please Leeds fans.

He told Sky Sports News: "We have shown this season and we are still there with two games to go, we can still be champions against probably the best team in the history of the Premier League. We are still there with two games to go, and we're not going to bottle that, that's for sure.

"What happens next season depends a lot on what we do, how we evolve and how we start. But that prediction is very difficult to do today."
