Mikel Arteta named the players to miss the Carabao Cup clash against Brentford

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has named the players who are going to miss the Carabao Cup clash against Brentford on Thursday.

Declan Rice, who was substituted at halftime during the recent north London derby due to a back issue, has not yet returned to training. Arteta expressed hope that the injury is not significant but acknowledged Rice's discomfort.

On Bukayo Saka, who also left the derby early and was limping post-match, the Spanish manager expressed uncertainty about his availability for the upcoming game against Bournemouth, stating that Saka had been unable to participate in training. Leandro Trossard, who was not in the squad for the last match, will also be a game-time decision for match against Bournemouth.

"He did some activity and that’s where he felt it. He wasn’t comfortable to carry on the session the day before the game and he hasn’t trained yet, so not available for tomorrow," added the 41-year-old on Belgium international's fitness.

Gabriel Martinelli, who had to be substituted in the 24th minute of a recent victory over Everton, will not be ready for the Brentford game. Unfortunately, Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber remain unavailable, further emphasizing the squad's current shortage of players.

Arteta summed up the situation, acknowledging the need for players to return to bolster the squad: "The squad that we have at the moment is really short, and we need players back, that's for sure."
