Mikel Arteta has praised Liverpool as the 'best team in Europe' following their FA Cup victory over Arsenal, despite his belief that Arsenal outperformed them.
Liverpool secured a spot in the fourth round with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, with Jakub Kiwior scoring an own goal and Luis Díaz adding another in stoppage time.
Although the Reds faced challenges in the first half and Arsenal had multiple opportunities to take the lead, they benefited from their hosts' poor finishing. Jürgen Klopp made halftime adjustments that proved effective, as Liverpool posed a more significant threat in the second half. The decisive goals came in the final 10 minutes, securing Liverpool's progression.
This defeat marks three consecutive losses for Arteta's team, with only one win in their last seven matches across all competitions. The manager is growing concerned about Arsenal's wastefulness in front of goal, which is proving to be a significant issue for the team.
"When you are better than the best team in Europe and you generate that amount of chances... I have not seen a team do it against them like we have done it. It is not enough. The reality is, it is not enough," Arteta said, via Liverpool.com.
