Mauricio Pochettino gave MAJOR Christopher Nkunku injury update ahead of Brentford clash

Christopher Nkunku's journey to full recovery has been closely followed by Chelsea fans ever since he sustained a knee injury during pre-season, which ultimately required surgery.

The Frenchman was spotted at Cobham in his full training gear, sparking excitement among fans. While a return to the pitch is not imminent, Mauricio Pochettino, in his pre-match press conference, delivered a positive update on the player recovery process.

The manager believes that the 25-year-old is "close" to rejoining the squad, hinting at a potential return in the near future. The anticipation of witnessing him back on the field grows and Pochettino's latest update is a reassuring sign that the midfielder's return is drawing nearer.

"He is doing well, I think he is close, I hope he can be involved soon. Maybe after the international break. Maybe not not sure."

The potential return of Nkunku to action after the two-week pause in November could mark a significant turning point for the West Londoners. His comeback would be a tremendous boost for the club and might even pave the way for his debut before the end of the year.

"He was the player when you see the goals from last season, it's a player that can provide goals and I think we are missing goals. We think he's a player that can be important for us because he proved he can score." the coach added.
