Napoli center-back Kim Min-jae has agreed to join Manchester United with a €60m expected release clause as suggested by multiple reports.
Previously, 90min revealed that according to reliable sources connected to the Italian champions, Kim's contract includes a specific clause that allows him to leave during a particular transfer window if a club matches a predetermined fee. Manchester United have been engaging in discussions regarding a potential deal, while several other Premier League clubs have also shown interest.
The fee required to secure Kim's departure from Napoli in early July is expected to range between €40m and €60m. However, the exact figure remains flexible and is linked to the purchasing club's revenue. Regardless of the final amount, it would still be significantly lower than Kim's current market value, which has skyrocketed to approximately €100m.
The inclusion of the exit clause in Kim's contract was essentially a necessity for Napoli when they signed him last summer. It served as a persuasive tool to convince the South Korean player to choose Naples over Rennes in Ligue 1. Kim made the move from Fenerbahce in July for a fee slightly exceeding €18m.
Erik ten Has is an admirer of the 26-year old's leadership skills and confidence and is keen to add a player of such caliber to his squad. The stellar player could be a potential replacement for Harry Maguire, who is expected to be one of the players sold at the club this summer.
A few days ago Manchester Evening News called the deal "virtually sealed" with the Red Devils on the brink of finalising it to bring the South Korean star to Old Trafford.
