Manchester United are actively seeking to reinforce their squad, with plans to acquire a highly sought-after player recently revealed.
Despite facing challenges in form and injuries this season, a recent victory against Luton Town has positioned them as the most in-form side in the Premier League. Manager Erik ten Hag is keen on strengthening the team, and incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a billionaire associated with INEOS, is ready to support these efforts.
Ratcliffe is on the verge of taking control of the footballing aspect of the club and has identified the urgent need for defensive reinforcements at Manchester United. According to reports from Correio da Manha (via FourFourTwo) in Portugal, details of United's payment plan for Sporting centre-back Goncalo Inacio have been leaked. The 20-time league champions are looking to structure a deal with performance-based incentives.
Financial constraints limited Manchester United's transfer activities in the summer, despite notable signings such as Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund. Sofyan Amrabat had to be acquired on loan to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
In the case of the potential deal for Inacio, United are aiming for a base fee of €45 million (£39.3m), supplemented by €15 million (£13.1m) in bonuses and add-ons. There are indications that the sale of Raphael Varane could be considered to finance this move.
Manchester United have also been linked with Jean-Clair Todibo, who plays for Ratcliffe's club Nice. Inacio is currently valued at €30 million according to Transfermarkt.
This strategic move reflects the club's determination to address defensive concerns and strengthen its competitive position in the Premier League.
