After an unlucky first leg against Sevilla, the Red Devils have an extensive list of injuries that will negatively impact their second leg. Club captain Harry Maguire’s and Tyrell Malacia’s own goals completely erased the team’s two-goal advantage and resulted in a draw.
Next week the Europa Ligue rivals will have the concluding match, and the following United players will miss it.
Lisandro Martinez
The 25-year-old centre-back got a worrying ankle/lower leg injury just last night at Old Trafford. In a post-match talk, Erik ten Hag assured that Martinez’s “Achilles area” was not hurt. The Argentinan player’s date of return is yet to be determined.
Raphael Varane
Varane got injured at just a few minutes’ difference from Martinez. The nature of the 29-year-old defender’s injury is not clear, nor is his return date. According to the club manager, the Frenchman has been “complaining (about it) over the last couple of weeks”.
Bruno Fernandes
The Portuguese player got his third yellow card at the game against Sevilla for a handball. The offense resulted in an automatic suspension, therefore, the attacker will not participate in the second leg against the Spanish club.
Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United star experienced pain in his groin/pelvic area and was sent off the pitch during the game with Everton. He is currently being assessed to ensure his fitness for the second leg. His expected return date is April 20.
Scott McTominay
The Scottish professional missed the match on Thursday due to catching a minor knock just days before. Although there is no further updates on the player’s physical condition, his expected return date is April 16.
Luke Shaw
The 27-year-old is currently out due to his thigh injury from last week in the game with Brentford. The Manchester United boss informed that the injured has made some progress, however he is still not fully back to train with the team.
Alejandro Garnacho
The Argentine youngster, too, is recovering from an ankle/lower leg injury from last month in the draw with Southampton. As it was evaluated by the club manager then, it will take some weeks until the 8-year-old winger will be back on the pitch.
Tom Heaton
Before even the international break had started, the backup goalkeeper injured his ankle and has not returned yet.
Donny van de Beek
After sustaining an intense knee injury in Januray, the Dutch midfielder is out for the whole season. “The bad news is he is out for the rest of the season,” Ten Hag said at the time. “But the good news is, in the long term, his knee will be OK, and he will be ready to play at the highest levels for the start of pre-season.”
