Manchester United make u-turn on Dayot Upamecano transfer

Manchester United have ended their interest on Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The Frenchman has long been linked to a move to Old Trafford. The defender has a release clause of around £42million in his contract but it cannot be activated until the end of the current campaign. According to the Athletic, United’s interest in the France international has cooled and that it’s Bayern Munich that now lead the way for his signature. Whether United have cooled their interest since it became apparent that Upamecano would opt for a move elsewhere remains to be seen. Upamecano featured in a 5-0 defeat against United in the Champions League earlier this season and the France international was far from his best as Marcus Rashford scored a hat-trick.
