Dwight Yorke is of the opinion that Manchester United should consider replacing Antony and explore the possibility of acquiring a player similar to Son Heung-Min from Tottenham.
Yorke emphasizes the need for a prompt response to avoid repeating past mistakes. The Brazil international, who came at a cost of €95 million in 2022, has faced significant criticism this season for his lackluster performance.
Despite playing in 22 games across various competitions, he has failed to register a goal or assist for United. The former Ajax player has struggled to leave a mark at Old Trafford since his high-profile transfer.
The former player highlighted the 23-year-old's performance by drawing a comparison to Kevin de Bruyne, who, in just five minutes after returning from a four-month absence against Newcastle last week, made a significant impact coming off the bench to aid Manchester City.
“I’m not surprised that we’re still talking about Antony and what he brings because he cost £85million,” Yorke told Footy Accumulators.
“Players like him will understand they’re not performing as they should. It’s tough for him and I feel for him, but it’s both his and the club’s responsibility if things don’t work out.
“This approach works OK as these players still have the occasional moment of magic in them, but that’s not where United need to be. They need to buy players like Son – players who can make a difference to your team."
