Liverpool are poised to activate a €32 million release clause to reinforce their defensive midfield.
The position is currently filled by Alexis Mac Allister in Jurgen Klopp's 4-3-3 formation, despite the Argentine being more typically an attacking player.
This tactical adjustment came about due to the unexpected departure of Fabinho, and the Reds are considering a winter transfer to fill the void left by their Saudi-bound No.3.
According to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, the Merseysiders remain interested in Fluminense's Andre Trindade and are considering a potential move when the transfer window reopens in January.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has also asserted that Andre Trindade is set to leave Brazil soon, with Jurgen Klopp's team at the forefront of the race to secure his transfer to Europe.
Speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, Bailey described Andre as possibly the best defensive midfielder in the Brazilian top flight currently and expressed his belief that the 22-year-old is on the cusp of making a move to a European club.
"He really is one on the agenda for January: I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t leave Fluminense.
"Will it be to Liverpool? I think they’re first in the queue. He’s definitely leaving Fluminense in January. And he may very well be turning up at Anfield."
