Jamie Carragher has expressed his shock at Jurgen Klopp's announcement of leaving Liverpool, describing it as a significant setback.
Klopp has confirmed his departure from Anfield at the end of the current season after nine years as manager. Despite extending his contract until 2026 just two years ago, the German boss cited a lack of energy for the high-pressure role as the reason for his decision.
Liverpool fans are reeling from the news as the club begins the search for a successor, recognizing the immense void Klopp's departure will create.
Carragher, a former Liverpool player, reacted to the news on social media, praising Klopp's managerial prowess and character while expressing his disappointment at the timing of the announcement.
"This news was always going to be a body blow to the club whenever it came. I just thought it would be another few years away," the ex-Reds' man wrote on Twitter.
"What a manager, what a man, let’s go out with a bang Jurgen!" he added.
