Leroy Sane injury update with Manchester City worried over knee problem

Manchester City are still assessing the injury sustained by Leroy Sane during the Community Shield. The 23-year-old twisted his knee and had to be substituted in the early minutes of City’s penalty shoot-out victory over Liverpool at Wembley. Pep Guardiola said afterwards that he didn’t think the injury was serious, however, last night, Sane was still in Manchester after being examined by the club’s own medical staff at the Etihad campus. The fact that it has taken more than 72 hours to discover the extent of the damage, will be a worry. City insist that reports from Germany about Sane’s condition being serious are based on guesswork.
