After Chelsea's humiliating 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford, interim coach Frank Lampard warned the incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino regarding the squad.
The work awaiting the Argentine at Stamford Bridge seems rather worrying with this result ahead of the summer. In an interview with Mirror UK, Lampard said: “It [The club] needs a reboot, the club will move on in summer in terms of what the squad looks like, and as a Chelsea player where we want to be, everything has to be improved to get to the level.”
In addition, the 44-year-old acknowledged that the aftermath of the game should not be about pointing fingers at certain players, because he understands that the issue is not the lack of effort, but rather an issue of lack of practice and built-up resilience.
“It’s a bad year for the club, and many clubs have these years when we’ve had massive success for the last 20 years or whatever, but the important thing is you get to the bottom of how it improves," concluded the Chelsea caretaker.
On May 25, four strikes from Manchester United's players secured a Champions League spot for Erik ten Hag's side and pushed Chelsea a position down in the Premier League table. Ever since Lampard's arrival at the club, this was the Blue's tenth loss in comparison to just one win against Bournemouth at the beginning of the month.
