Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded to Mohamed Salah's devastated apology on social media following the club's inability to qualify for the Champions League.
The Dutch manager was asked about Salah's message in a press conference ahead of the season's last game with Southampton. He said that such a reaction is "completely normal" and assured that the player seemed rather cheerful after that, so it didn't cause too much of tragic that the headlines make out of it.
"It's completely normal in the world of social media, so many bad things happen constantly but I don't think Mo's message was one of them. He was right, but in an hour later in the canteen, he was smiling," explained the Dutchman.
According to Klopp, even from the beginning of the current campaign, it was anticipated that this would not go on to join their excellent season in the past. In the last 10 games the Reds collected a good amount of points and climbed up a few positions up and their manager assures that had the squad played in a similar spirit since the beginning, things would have been different.
"We should be optimistic about things, the farewell to our players was great. We have reasons to be optimistic, we are really united. If you can go through difficult moments, it's a great basis for a better future," Klopp concluded.
