Jurgen Klopp picks Liverpool flop as one player he'd like to give a second chance

Jurgen Klopp has chosen a surprise name to give a second chance to work at Liverpool - Andriy Voronin. The Reds boss has coached Mainz and Borussia Dortmun in his career, but picked a Liverpool flop to give a second chance. Klopp was quizzed by his former club Mainz's YouTube channel, about which Mainz player he would have cherry-picked if he had a second chance to sign them. And he calmly replied: "Andriy Voronin." The 54-year-old explained that Voronin was talented beyond his knowledge with the German club when he played at the side between 2000 and 2003. However, Klopp revealed he was left on the bench because he did not express his dissatisfaction about not playing.
“If Andriy had known just one day in his life how good he could have been, it would have been absolutely amazing," he added.   "Andriy was an incredible player, an incredible talent.   "Actually, I was a little unfair. In my first year as coach, I think my first full season as coach especially, I would always only sub him on.   "And then Andriy came to my room during the training camp and asked, 'Kloppo, why do I never start?'   "I said, 'Do you want the honest answer?' He said, 'Yes.' So I said, 'Because you don't complain when you don't start!’   "He replied, 'Fair enough!' And he carried on not starting."
The Ukrainian signed for Liverpool on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in 2007 by former boss Rafa Benitez and went on to make 40 appearances, scoring six goals. Source - Liverpool ECHO Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
