Julen Lopetegui has explained why he too Adama Traore off during Wolves' 0-1 defeat against Bournemouth last weekend.
Following their back-to-back victories over Liverpool and Southampton, the Wanderers failed to secure the vital three points at home over Gary O'Neil's men.
According to the manager, the player's tiredness was the factor in his decision.
The 27-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch and undoubtedly the one who could have played a decisive role in the final result.
However, Lopetegui subbed him in the last 15 minutes of the meeting when the Midland team was seeking an equalizer.
Speaking to Express & Star, the Spanish manager spoke out on why Traore was taken off.
“It’s because we wanted to play with two forwards and we needed our full-backs to arrive and Adama was a little bit tired.
“We needed another kind of player in this moment. They (the full-backs) had space to run and that’s why I made the change.”
