Josko Gvardiol transfer puzzle: Unveiling the mysteries behind Manchester City's delay

RB Leipzig are currently focused on securing key signings before finalizing Josko Gvardiol's transfer to Manchester City.

This explains the apparent silence from the Premier League champions, as the German outfit want to avoid inflated asking prices in the market, according to Christian Falk's exclusive update on CaughtOffside

Meanwhile, as per The Athletic journalist David Ornstein suggests that the club is determined to negotiate a lower fee for the Croatia international, as Leipzig are demanding £85.6 million for his services.

“Leipzig’s first offer for Castello Lukeba was €26m and €6m in add-ons. That was not enough for Lyon. That’s why they have to go up. So Lyon wants €30m as a base fee. Leipzig is working on how to arrange this.

"This is also interesting for England – that’s why it’s a little bit quiet at the moment over Josko Gvardiol, because Leipzig knows at the moment that if they get a package of €100m, the other clubs will say ‘hey, you’ve got €100m, so you can spend a little bit more on the player’.”

The potential transfer of the 21-year-old to City might also depend on the club offloading surplus players, such as Aymeric Laporte, who is no longer in the team's immediate plans.

With defenders like John Stones and Ruben Dias already in their ranks, Gvardiol would be a valuable addition to the Premier League champions' squad.

In addition to his primary position as a center-back, the Croatian star's versatility allows him to provide support as a left-back if needed, complementing Pep Guardiola's tactical preference for a back-three formation during possession.
