Jesse Marsch makes 'world's best' admission over Leeds United star

Jesse Marsch has hailed Leeds United star Rodrigo admitting he would have liked to meet him sooner.

The American manager insisted if he knew the forward at the age of 18, he could've helped him become 'one of the bests' in the world.

Failing to success at the Santiago Bernabeu from Real Madrid's academy back in 2009, the 31-year-old spent a five-year spell at Benfica and Valencia before joining the Yorkshire side in 2020.

Speaking to The Athletic quoted by Leeds Live, Leeds' boss heaped a praise on the Brazil-born player's potential and personality.

"We have Rodrigo at Leeds, and he’s 31 and I’ve even had a conversation with him at one point and said it’s too bad I didn’t know him when he was 18 because I could have helped make him one of the best players in the world — I truly believe that.

"But to do that I’ve had to really get to know Rodrigo as a person and what makes him tick. What are his vulnerabilities? What are his insecurities? What things make him stronger? What are the things he likes?"

The Castilla graduate has found the net 12 times in his 25 Premier League appearances since Marsch took the charge at Elland Road in 2022 replacing Marcelo Bielsa.
