Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has picked Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe as the best manager of the season.
The Magpies secured a Champions League spot for the first time in the last 20 years under the management of the 45-year-old this term followed by their impressive spell in the domestic league.
Howe is just 18 months in charge of the team, and Carragher admits he didn't expect the Magpies to reach notable success in such a short time. While picking the best head coach of the season, the pundit found himself in a dilemma, however, later went on to pick his favorite.
"It was either Eddie Howe or Pep Guardiola and I think we all feel Pep Guardiola could go on to win the treble. How could you go against him if he does that," he said on Sky Sports.
"The only reason I went for Eddie Howe was that I just cannot believe what has happened from last season to this season with Newcastle in terms of where they were when Eddie Howe came in. I actually felt there was more chance of doing a treble than Newcastle being in the Champions League so that is why I went for Eddie Howe," Carragher added.
