Jack Grealish has reacted to Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher’s explosive discussion on Monday Night Football.
Neville and Carragher each named their preferred England squads for this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament during an intense debate on Sky Sports.
Former Liverpool defender named the Aston Villa skipper in his starting XI for the first group game against Croatia in June, saying:
“There was a little bit of talk the last few days because he was injured and that Gareth Southgate may not pick him and I think someone at the FA or in the England squad has tried to quell that talk and get something out there.
“I can understand because some things sometimes gain momentum on social media, this furore around Grealish is not going. Grealish is going. He has to go. I think what he did in the games before Christmas, certainly the game away in Belgium he was a real standout player.
“I think he’s a special talent. There’s no doubt in my mind that Grealish goes.”
While Neville opted for United forward Marcus Rashford over Grealish in a front three with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling. He added:
“If Kane was to get injured or a (Harry) Maguire or that type, you go into a different type of playing where you need fluidity. You need the types of Grealish and (Phil) Foden to come in. To go to a back-three with wing-backs, it’s a completely different system.
“I think the idea of having Grealish in there, he’s a match winner, he impressed when he went into the squad – there was a suggestion he might not fit into the squad."
And Grealish has reacted to the duo's comments by simply tweeting: “Neville and Carragher brilliant watch all night!” accompanied by a number of laughing emojis and a hand-clapping emoji.
