Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham said he is ready to fight for a spot in the team ahead of likely competition with Olivier Giroud and new signing Timo Werner. The 22-year-old finished this season as Chelsea’s top scorer. He scored 15 goals in the Premier League and 19 in all competitions.
Abraham, however, began lost his role as a first-choice No.9 to the more experienced Giroud the second half of the season, particularly after his injury in February.
Now that Timo Werner who recorded 34 goals and 10 assists for RB Leipzig has joined the Blues, Abraham will have another player to compete with for the starting role besides Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
Abraham told the Express:
“This is Chelsea Football Club, there’s always going to be high standards and high competition and this is something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a kid.
“I’ve always been fighting for it, it’s never come easy, it wasn’t easy at the start of the season but I worked my way into the team and that’s what I’ve got to keep doing.”
Abraham could also have another player to compete with should Chelsea successfully bring Kai Havertz.
