"I want to stay": Manchester City player wants to prove himself worthy at Etihad

Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez has admitted he would love to stay at Etihad and continue his playing spell with the Citizens.

Spanish newspaper AS published an interview with the player who is currently on duty with the U-21 national team squad.

The discussion revolved around Gomez's experiences in England, particularly his limited playing time in his first season at the club, despite City's successful treble-winning campaign.

When asked about his conversations with manager Pep Guardiola before the summer break, the 22-year-old clarified that his intention is to remain at the club, as it is his desire.

“I haven’t talked to him about the next season, but I want to stay there," he said, via Sport Witness

“I’m going to go from the first day of the preseason with a lot of desire to show him that I can have more minutes.”

Gomez is now focused on representing Spain in the U-21 Euros, with their first group-stage match against Romania scheduled for Wednesday.
