"I believe": Gerard Pique says one Manchester City man is a "genius"

Gerard Pique has expressed his admiration for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and drew parallels between Guardiola's coaching career and that of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Pique, who has played under both Ferguson and Guardiola and achieved significant success with both managers, shared his perspective on these two renowned figures and their accomplishments during a recent episode of The Club.

“His career has proven that he’s been one of the best managers in the history of the Premier League and in the history of football," he said, via Manchester City News.

“And if you compare later with the coaches that I had, for example, Pep Guardiola, which I believe is a genius and that he’s an incredible coach but he’s different from Sir Alex Ferguson. What Sir Alex did to Manchester United is different from what Pep Guardiola was doing at that time for Barcelona.”

During his tenure at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola achieved remarkable success, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. Notably, his Barcelona side triumphed over Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United in both the 2009 and 2011 Champions League finals.

Subsequently, Guardiola went on to secure three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and has since won five Premier League titles in just seven years with Manchester City. His extensive collection of titles underscores his exceptional coaching career. Furthermore, Guardiola is highly regarded for his profound impact during his time at Barcelona, which influenced the playing style of numerous teams across Europe.
