Manchester City begin their Champions League journey with a Group stage against Porto on Wednesday, October 21. City and Porto have been placed in Group C with Olympiacos and Marseille.
Ahead of City's clash with Porto, Glen Johnson has made his Champions League prediction for Pep Guardiola's side.
"They'll fancy themselves in their group, it's the same as Liverpool," Johnson told Mirror.
"City are by far the best team in that group, and as long as they don't take them lightly then I imagine they'll qualify very early.
"By their standards they've been a bit hit-and-miss recently, so a team like Marseille could catch them cold, but they should be fine.
"In terms of Pep Guardiola and the Champions League, I do think that before long the club will start losing patience and thinking that the gold dust has run out a little bit, but he's still a fantastic manager with a fantastic squad.
"They just need to have that little bit of luck as on their day they can beat anybody.
"They always seem to lose a few key players at the wrong times in a season, sometimes early on in a season and they never seem to get going, and then they can be hot and cold."
