A sideline motivational talk at Old Trafford has reignited Pedro Neto's spark, and Gary O'Neil is keen on maintaining that momentum.
During the season opener, the Portuguese winger was encouraged with the assertion that he was "too good to come off," and Wolves' manager is eager for him to recapture that level of performance, starting with the upcoming match on the south coast.
The 23-year-old, a target for both Arsenal and Manchester City, is recovering from a hamstring strain, with the latter reportedly considering him as a replacement for Bernardo Silva.
O'Neil highlighted that Neto's recent dip in form was largely attributed to injuries, expressing the need for unwavering trust in his abilities to help him return to top form.
“I spoke to him very early on - I remember talking to him during a break in play at Manchester United when I was stood next to him on the touchline and he was starting to look a little bit tired with 15 minutes to go.
“I said: ‘You can look as tired as you want - you’re not coming off. You’re too good to come off. Get a couple of deep breaths in because it’s not happening.’
“He responded well to that faith in him and belief. In fact, I think he appreciated it. He came off an awful lot towards the end of games."
