Manchester United legend Gary Neville has named Martin Odegaard as the best young player in the Premier League 2022/23 season.
Arsenal's midfielder has shined in the ongoing term to help his team secure a Champions League spot for the next season. Mikel Arteta's side were even close to lifting the Premier League title, though faced tough competition from the defending champions, Manchester City.
Neville admitted he was surprised to see Odegaard captaining the Gunners but later acknowledged the former Real Madrid star's class and capability to lead the team in tense situations.
"I was surprised and shocked when I found out Odegaard is Arsenal's captain. Where has that come from? But he has been Arsenal's best player," the pundit said on Sky Sports.
"Even in this difficult period, I think Odegaard has been outstanding. His quality on the ball. The best young player," Neville added.
Neville has picked Odegaard for his Premier League Team of the Season, with Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli also included on the list.
