Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United step up in pursuit of primary summer target

Fabrizio Romano has claimed Manchester United are willing to pay 50m + add-ons for Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana.

Erik ten Hag, who previously coached the 27-year-old during their time together at Ajax, holds a strong admiration for him.

Recent reports indicate that the Dutch manager is making efforts to bring the Cameroonian to Old Trafford this summer, particularly due to uncertainties surrounding David de Gea's future.

According to transfer the Italian transfer expert, United might need to shell out around €55 million to secure the services of Onana. The potential transfer could also be contingent on the outcome of the Spaniard's situation.

“Let’s see if they will bid in the next few days, contacts are taking place and United are very serious about it, but it depends also on David de Gea. Erik ten Hag has been a big fan of Onana for some time, but Inter want Inter want €50/55m plus add-ons, so it’s not an easy deal. If De Gea leaves, Onana is one of the top options for United, but it’s not advanced yet.

“Chelsea have also been linked with Onana in the past, but for now their plan is different. There is a strong possibility that Kepa Arrizabalaga will continue as Mauricio Pochettino’s number one ‘keeper, and Chelsea will sign a backup option.
