However, to get the Portugal international's signature, Xavi's side will need to sell multiple players as the club is currently dealing with salaries.
Silva, who has been developed as a world-class performer over the year, was rumored to depart from Etihad last summer, while the Italian insider confirms Barca are still keen to bring the 28-year-old to Camp Nou in the coming transfer window.
“Barcelona have always been interested in Bernardo Silva, but honestly now is way too early to predict their summer moves – we know Barca situation with Financial Fair Play so plans will also depend on the outgoings, they need to change the salaries situation. The interest remains but it’s not even a negotiation now,” Romano stated.
