Fabrizio Romano explains why Manchester City accepted Chelsea's bid for Cole Palmer

One of the unexpected transfers during the summer transfer window was the move of Cole Palmer from Manchester City to Chelsea.

Despite being a talented 21-year-old, Palmer hadn't yet secured a spot in the starting lineup at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola, however, had a high regard for the young English talent. Given the presence of numerous world-class players ahead of him in the squad, the starlet might have felt that he needed to find a new club to secure regular playing time.

Ultimately, the reigning Premier League champions had little choice but to allow their ace to pursue his career at Stamford Bridge.

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack, Fabrizio Romano has explained the details of the deal and why the Cityzens accepted the West London giant's offer.

‘With Cole Palmer, Chelsea really insisted, were pushing for two days and the player was also keen on the move.

‘So for City the best thing to do was to accept and make the most amount of money possible.’
