Fabrizio Romano claims West Ham "were seriously interested" in 22-year-old, club turned down offer

West Ham tried hard to sign Darwin Nuñez from Benfica, however, the move didn't materialize. According to the sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Hammers were seriously interested in the attacker and offered a bid of around €48m. It was turned down by the Portuguese team, with the club being eager to keep their star at all costs. Romano claims that Nuñez will be one of the key names on the market as soon as the summer transfer opens. A number of clubs are interested in the player's services. The time will show whether David Moyes' side will go back to the 22-year-old or not.
