Despite the goalkeeper already reaching an agreement with the club it is believed that the Spain international's disappointing match could cost him a renewal.
The 32-year-old conceded a goal to Ilkay Gundogan within the first 15 seconds of the match, however, it was the second goal, which led to Manchester City's victory, that drew criticism towards the United number one.
Gundogan connected with a Kevin De Bruyne cross just outside the box, but his shot was not perfectly struck. Therefore, fans believe that De Gea should have saved the slow-moving shot, adding to a series of mistakes he has made this season.
The Red Devils' supporters have been urging the club to sign a new first-choice shot-stopper, and according to the Daily Mail, the events at Wembley could have an impact on De Gea's new contract.
