Former Everton star Tim Cahill has admitted he “always” follows the Toffees’ games in an exclusive interview with VbetNews.
Cahill’s journey at Merseyside club started back in the summer of 2004. The club paid £1.5million to sign the attacker from South East London club Millwall.
The Australian man became the club’s top goalscorer and fans’ Player of the Season in his first season with the Toffees. Furthermore, in 2006, he was the first Everton player to be named as one of 50 nominees for the Ballon d’Or.
Cahill played 278 games for Everton, marking his name among the best footballers of the club. After an eight-year spell, he said goodbye to his beloved club.
Now, ten years later from his departure, the ex-Toffees star has admitted he “always” follows his former team’s performances.
“Always, always. This is my club,” he told VbetNews.
Everton’s last season was a difficult one as the club was struggling to keep their place in the Premier League. Fortunately, the Toffees escaped relegation.
“The last season was okay. The best thing is that we stayed in the league, and we’re very happy. Next season we will rebuild and try something special,” Cahill said.
Everton will continue their run in England’s top tier next term under the boss Frank Lampard.
When asked to rate the former Chelsea man’s managerial job at Goodison Park, Cahill added.
“Fantastic. He is a great manager.”
