Everton joins the race for a midfielder from a Champions League club

Everton is the latest club to join the competition in signing Manchester United's Scott McTominay, according to reports from Football Insider.

The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to depart from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, and the club is willing to assist in making the move happen. The Merseyside club will face competition from West Ham and Newcastle.

As for Erik ten Hag's side, the identified top target is Mason Mount as the Dutch manager aims to enhance the team's goal-scoring and assist contributions from the midfield next season. Personal terms have already been agreed upon with the English international, but Manchester United still needs to negotiate a transfer fee with Chelsea in order to secure his signing.

After avoiding relegation by a small margin, it remains a question how attractive a move to Everton would be for a Champions League club. In addition, reliable sources indicate that the permanent transfer of Scott McTominay would require a fee "higher than £20 million," posing a significant challenge for Everton to finalize the deal.
