Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that 2022 World Cup winner Lisandro Martinez was close to joining the Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer.
The former Ajax defender made a move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window after long-term negotiations. He signed a contract until 2027.
Ten Hag has now revealed the details regarding Martinez's transfer to United when speaking to the media.
"Lisandro Martínez called me up and said: I will leave Ajax. I can sign for Arsenal but if you want me, I will go to Manchester United," the manager said.
