Five England internationals from Manchester United and Chelsea are set to miss the EURO 2024 qualifiers in June.
Gareth Southgate's England squad for EURO 2024 will be announced on November 10. But before that, the English coach will need to name the players who are going to take part in the qualifiers at the beginning of the summer. Southgate usually does it prior to the international break, on a Thursday before the final Premier League matches. Based on injury updates on Reece James, Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ben Chilwell, it can be predicted that they are highly unlikely to fulfill their international duties at this time.
England is set to play against Malta and Luxembourg in June, without these five players:
Reece James
The Chelsea defender is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. Last month, when the Blues were facing Real Madrid, James played the entire 90 minutes of the game, despite the observed discomfort in his hamstring. The England International is expected to be back on track in summer, yet he is currently maintaining some sort of physical activity by engaging in outdoor training alongside Mount and Chilwell.
Mason Mount
The Chelsea homegrown talent has been struggling with an ongoing pelvic issue since the beginning of the current season. The 24-year-old is trying to maintain some sort of physical activity by engaging in outdoor training with Reece James and Ben Chilwell. Just like the former player, Mount is also expected to return in summer, but not as early as June.
Ben Chilwell
Chilwell has sustained a hamstring injury in Chelsea's victorious game against Bournemouth. As a matter of fact, the same issue had him sidelined for 10 matches already since the beginning of the season. It is expected that the England international will be back in time to face Manchester United on May 25. His participation in the international games, yet is still prioritized to rest.
Jadon Sancho
Shortly after his move to Manchester United in 2021, Sancho has not featured in any games on the behalf of the England squad. The 22-year-old is struggling with little play time under Ten Hag, despite his 5 Premier League goals this season. Southgate, on the other hand might remain reluctant to include the youngster in his squad, as it is blessed with many attacking talents.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Bissaka is one of the players who has never received a call from the England coach to join the team, due to no evident reason. Even the 26-year-old's transfer to Crystal Palace did not play a decisive factor for Southgate and it is predicted that no changes would take place in that regard.
