A man has been charged with assault and entering the field of play following an incident during the Premier League game between Leeds United and Newcastle United on Saturday.
The man was able to enter the Newcastle technical area and push Magpies boss Eddie Howe before being escorted away by security during second-half injury-time. Leeds United issued a lifetime ban to the intruder.
Eddie Howe was surprised by the incident and said, "moments like that make you think. We need to be mindful of security," via BT Sport. He also added, "nobody should have to feel their personal safety is violated when trying to entertain the country." The incident has raised concerns about security at football matches.
The Newcastle United and Leeds United clash resulted in a 2-2 draw at Elland Road on May 13.
