Dominic Calvert-Lewin reveals Everton return date from long-term injury

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed that he is hopeful to return to Everton action on Boxing Day, when they are set to face Burnley. The 24-year-old started the season beyond impressively with three goals in the opening three games of the Premier League season, before a quadriceps injury ruled him out for an extended period. The Toffees are in desperate need of senior players to return and perform to help them out of their rut of poor form. And it seems they’ve been given a huge boost by their frontman. Speaking on a video call with an ill fan and his father, Calvert-Lewin revealed he expects to return to action on Boxing Day if all goes to plan.
“I’ll hopefully back training with the team next week and hopefully play Boxing Day,” he said.   “I think so [the longest he’s been out], I’ve never really suffered with muscle injuries. I did a bit as a kid but it’s the first time my body has really let me down.   “It’s difficult because footy is my purpose. It’s been difficult at times. To get so close to coming back and get injured again, that’s why it’s been so difficult this time around.”
