"Dip a little": David Moyes makes huge West Ham ace injury claim

David Moyes has opened up on Angelo Ogbonna's injury last season, admitting the importance of the Italian to the team.

The center-back came back to the pitch this season, after being out for nine months due to an ACL injury.

Ogbonna picked up the injury during a 3-2 win over Liverpool at the London Stadium in the 2021/22 campaign when West Ham stood in third place in the Premier League table.

The Scottish manager insisted that his side, who were in their best form in that period, started 'to dip a little bit' after losing Angelo.

Speaking to the Hammer's official website, the head coach stated:

"At the time when we lost Angelo [to injury] last season, we were in the top two or three in the league.

"Angelo was in great form playing alongside Kurt, and probably if we’re honest, we were maybe in our best form in that period. It was maybe once we lost Angelo that it started to dip a little bit in certain ways.

"He gave us left-sided balance at the time and it just didn’t feel quite as good after."

However, the defender is slowly getting back in shape and managed to play 361 minutes so far this season.
