Colombia star receives death threats after being sent off against Japan

Carlos Sanchez’s World Cup started like a nightmare, as Fiorentina star got red card in 3rd minute after blocking Shinji Kagawa’s shot with his hand. Japan then scored from penalty and finally won the match 2-1. Despite Jose Pekerman, national team coach has told that Sanchez is one of the most important players, the midfielder has received death threats from fans. Some fans has compared him to Andres Escobar, Colombia national team captain in World Cup 1994, who was shot because of his own goal against USA in group stage. One of the fans wrote:  "If Andres Escobar was killed for scoring an own goal, then Carlos Sanchez should be murdered and his dead body pissed on." (via Mirror)
