The Evening Standard reports that Chelsea would not stand in their Matteo Kovacic’s way if he decides to leave the club for Man City this summer.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the reports hinting at interest from Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United are increasing over the skilled midfielder. Allegedly, Pep Guardiola’s side is confident about landing the 28-year-old star as a replacement for their own midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, if the German international doesn’t renew his contract with the club.
The Croatia international has been at Stamford Bridge since 2018 and is one of the squad members whose contract expires in 2024. Initially, Kovacic joined Chelsea on-loan in 2018. After the year-long contract, he joined the Blues with a 5-year deal and has been a key player since.
