Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that his team is facing a shortage of senior left-backs due to injuries to Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella.
Chilwell was substituted in the 75th minute of their 3-1 win over Bournemouth in the previous match, with captain Cesar Azpilicueta coming on in his place. Lampard stated that the England international is still not fit, while Cucurella will also be unavailable for their upcoming game against Nottingham Forest on May 13.
With only a few senior full-back options available, the interim boss may have to rely on Azpilicueta or give opportunities to younger players like Lewis Hall, who has been prevented from going to the U20 World Cup with England. Despite the challenging situation, Lampard expressed confidence in the abilities of his team and their determination to succeed.
Currently, the Blues are in the 11th spot in the Premier League table, while their rival Nottingham Forest is 5 seats and 9 points below them. Interm coach Frank Lampard has just four matches left with his former club until he passes the job to the next manager, likely to be Mauricio Pochettino.
