Bruno Fernandes has warned his Manchester United teammates against using tiredness as an excuse for their recent poor form.
The team has four crucial games ahead to determine their qualification for the Champions League. Erik ten Hag revealed his concerns over the squad's packed schedule combined with the upcoming winter World Cup.
‘The team has done a great job this season when no one thought United could be fighting for the top four. At the beginning of the season no one put our team in the top six," said Fernandes via Sky Sports. He pointed out that the club and its players deserve to finish in the top four.
While talking about the squad's tiredness amid the busy schedule, the Portugal international said that it will always be there, so they need to find a way to overcome it.
"We play many games so that’s normal, but our club we want to play as many games as possible, to be in a position to win trophies and reach finals. You have to find a way to rest when possible," concluded the 28-year-old.
United has played a total of 57 games across all competitions this season. Their recent back-to-back defeats against Brighton and West Ham have raised concerns, particularly with Liverpool's recent resurgence. Ten Hag's debut season as coach will be deemed a success if United secures a top-four finish and a domestic cup double.
