Brighton star Jan Paul van Hecke has raved about Erling Haaland, claiming Manchester City attacker is the best player in his position.
The Seagulls' defender shared his thoughts on the Norway international ahead of the two teams' Premier League meeting that will take place on October 21, Saturday.
Pep Guardiola's side are eager to return to their winning ways in the domestic top tier after facing consecutive defeats against Wolves and Arsenal before the international break. Meanwhile, Brighton, under Roberto De Zerbi's management, have been in superb form, and they are expected to pose a tough challenge for the rivals.
Van Hecke is gearing up for the upcoming clash and is resolute in his mission to thwart City's number nine, Erling Haaland.
The Dutch defender, who could be expected to be in the Seagulls' squad for Saturday's game, told Brighton official:
“It’s all about doing it against the best players and I was really happy that I showed I could play against the best striker in the world and do well. I was buzzing after that game."
He added: “I just kept telling myself (last time) to keep close to him and do not switch off for one moment. That’s what I managed to do and we came out of the game with a draw which of course was so important for us [securing a Europa League spot]," he added.
